MRL consultants in the Department of Health’s Major Incident Co-ordination Centre in London played a key role in leading the UK National Health Service response to the four bombs that killed 52 people and injured over 700.
MRL staff led on the co-ordination of receiving hospitals in London, ensuring that A&E departments were prepared for the large number of trauma cases, that ambulance crews were well briefed on available bed capacity, and that mutual aid was available if needed at neighbouring facilities.
We also co-ordinated information flows with other UK Government departments and agencies at COBRA.
